We are really excited to be hosting an event for the launch of a new short story collection from renowned SF author M John Harrison.

The event will be taking place on the 26th of August and will be formed of two parts.

Firstly, we will discuss three stories selected from Harrison’s new collection Settling the World. The stories we will be focusing on are: ‘The East’, ‘Colonizing the Future’ and ‘A Young Man’s Journey to Viriconium’. We are particularly interested in thinking about how Harrison’s work troubles generic borders and how that could feed into our wider discussions of this year’s theme ‘Beyond Borders: Empires, Bodies, Science Fictions’. The discussion will run from 7-8pm BST

Secondly, there will be a Twitter Q&A with the author himself from 8-8.30pm BST. Here we will take questions formed in the discussion and ask the author for his take on them.

A link to participate in the discussion will be put up just before the event on our facebook page. For those without a Facebook account please contact us via our email (lsfrc@gmail.com) and we will email you the link. Also, if you are struggling to access copies of any of the stories, let us know.
